Sussex Spaniel puppies

Don't these Sussex puppies look cute ? BUT remember they are only puppies for a short time, they grow into DOGS and if not trained Dogs Bite! Please teach your puppy Bite inhibition. See below. You can also help yourself by buying Ian Dunbar's Book "Before and After Getting your Puppy" available from www.Amazon.co.uk

Bite Inhibition:
Sussex Spaniel puppies begin to practice  biting, its part of growing up and learning. Its important to teach a puppy that humans don't accept biting. At first don't stop him chewing on your hands, play the game with him. You want to teach him a level which is acceptable to you. He knows how the game works with his pals; when he gets rough, they squeal and walk away from him, game over. You teach him the same way. When you're playing with him allow him to mouth your hand gently, as soon as he applies too much pressure, say "Ouch", he'll stop, so then carry on playing. Whenever he bites too hard, shout "Ouch" and stand up; stop the game for a minute or so. Then re-start the game. Play this little game with him every day for a few minutes, and he'll soon learn what he's allowed to do and what is just not on! He learns that he must be gentle. Eventually you should say 'ouch' when he only mouths on your hand, and eventually he will understand that it's not acceptable. Hands should be respected by dogs.

Don't neglect this process and your pup will have started the basics of learning to respect humans .
