Sussex
Spaniel
We live in the New Forest,
Hampshire, England with our family kennel of Sussex Spaniels. In the
winter our Sussex usually work in the shooting field, in the Summer we
go to Dog Shows. Mostly they spend a lot of time being much loved
pets. The Sussex have great characters but are not necessarily the right dog
for everyone. However, they make us laugh most days.
Sussex Spaniels are active
and healthy dogs but need plenty of socialisation.
The Sussex Spaniel is not a ‘toy’
breed and they are about 15-16” in height; strong and well boned. An
adult will weigh 45-50lbs. The Sussex Spaniel was bred in Sussex in
the 1800's. Mr Fuller of Rosehill is usually credited as being the
founder of the Sussex Spaniel Breed. They usually have a natural working ability
and Owners should be prepared to carry out fair and patient training,
to direct the dogs' energy to suit their lifestyle.
The Sussex Spaniel is a Vulnerable British
Breed with small numbers bred. If you should be interested
in a Sussex Spaniel please feel free to contact us, but please tell us
something about yourselves, your experience with dogs and your
lifestyle.
